School Dental Service (SDS) provides free oral health screening and fluoride therapy for consented Nursery 1 & 2 children of childcare centres who participate in the Preschool Oral Health Screening and Fluoride Therapy Programme.
SDS also provides free basic dental services in school dental clinics and mobile dental clinics for Primary and Secondary students to promote good oral health for life.
Following the dental screening and fluoride application of consented Nursery 1 & 2 children of childcare centres, parents can download an "Information Sheet For Parents" from HealthHub. This resource will contain follow-up action for tooth decay prevention and treatment.
Annually, Primary 1, Primary 2, Primary 4, Primary 6, Secondary 1, Secondary 3 and ITE Year 1 students who are enrolled in the school dental programme will be screened and treated by SDS. Students in other levels who require dental services may visit the school dental clinics or mobile dental clinics for free consultation and treatment.
Services are provided by dentists, dental therapists or advanced students in oral health therapy under close supervision.
Dental services provided, subject to the child's oral health status, include:
- Dental examination
- Basic dental treatment, such as scaling, polishing, filling and extraction
- Preventive treatment, such as fluoride application and fissure sealants to prevent tooth decay
- Group instruction and activities relating to good dental practices and healthy eating habits
When submitting dental consent, parents / guardians are required to provide your child's medical information as well. The medical information should be updated when there are changes to your child's medical condition. This will help us to take the necessary precautions for students with medical conditions (e.g. bleeding condition, drug allergy).
